Nagaland Rajya Sabha poll, no nomination on 1st day,

Kohima, Mar 15 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the poll dates for the Rajya Sabha seat of Nagaland and the Returning Officer informed that no nominations have been received till 3:00 PM on March 14, the first day of filing nomination. In a notification Nagaland Additional Secretary and Returning Officer for the biennial election to the council of states K. Rio said that in pursuance of the provision of the Representation of People Act, 1951 and the poll process will be conducted at the Conference Hall, Annex Room of the Assembly Secretariat between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, as approved by the ECI. The RO also informed that nomination papers can be delivered by a candidate or proposer to the RO or the Assistant RO at Room No. 65, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on all working days till March 21. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered by a candidate or his proposers or his election agent who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the Officers at his Office before 3:00 PM on March 24 next. The election will be held on March 31 to fill the seat vacated by incumbent Member of Parliament KG Kenye, who will retire on April 2 next. AS RN
