Mumbai, March 27: A scandal involving fake entry passes during the Maharashtra Assembly session has come to light. The Marine Drive police in Mumbai have arrested five individuals, including employees from the state ministry, in connection with this case. The Mumbai police announced the arrests on Friday.
According to reports, the issue of counterfeit entry passes emerged during the assembly session in Maharashtra. Minister Uday Samant raised concerns regarding this matter within the state government. The Mumbai police confirmed that during the investigation, five suspects were apprehended, some of whom are employed in the ministry.
The five arrested individuals have been identified as Keshav Gunjal (53), Ganpat Bhau Jawale (50), Nagesh Shivaji Patil (42), Manoj Anand Morbale (40), and Swapnil Ramesh Tayde (40).
Police sources revealed that a pass was issued to Dattatray Gunjal, which allegedly bore the name of an advisor to the Chief Minister’s office. The Legislative Assembly police became suspicious of this pass, prompting an inquiry. Following this, the investigation by the Legislative Assembly police unveiled the entire operation. After receiving a complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the suspects.
Sources indicate that there may be more individuals involved in this network, and efforts are underway to locate additional suspects. So far, there have been no reports of any financial transactions related to the case, but the Marine Drive police are continuing their investigation.
It is noteworthy that the Maharashtra Assembly’s budget session concluded on March 25, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presenting the budget in the house on March 6.
