Mumbai Indians fined for slow over rate

Pune, April 14 : Mumbai Indians (MI) have been fined as they maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) here at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday. In the match, PBKS defeated five-time champions MI by 12 runs and handed them fifth consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL. “Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined Rs 24 lakh and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is lower,” the IPL said in a statement issued on Thursday. This was Mumbai’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences. Earlier in the tournament, Rohit was handed a fine for a slow over-rate during MI’s first match against Delhi Capitals on March 27. As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum overrate offences, MI skipper was fined Rs 12 lakh. BAV GK
