MoS Meenakshi Lekhi launches ‘All Women Ambassadors Group’

New Delhi, April 14 : In an innovative move, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi launched the ‘All Women Ambassadors Group’ to advance the role of women in international diplomacy and to realise SDG 5 to achieve gender equality in diplomacy. Around a dozen women ambassadors based in New Delhi joined Lekhi for the event, which also saw some garba dancing to showcase the Navratri celebrations. She said in a tweet: “Launched the “All Women Ambassadors Group”, which aims to advance the role of women in international diplomacy to realise SDG 5 to achieve gender equality in diplomacy. It shall be a platform to facilitate comm cation and create a support web for all Women Ambassadors to India. “The event also provided a glimpse of Navaratri celebrations and showcased the kaleidoscopic diversity of our cultural music and dance to all Ambassadors. I thank all the women diplomats for their enthusiastic participation.” The Finnish Ambassador Ritva Koukku-Ronde replied with a warm thank you for being invited to the event. RN
