Mumbai, March 5: Motorola’s Razr fold has achieved a remarkable DXOMARK camera score of 164, earning the prestigious DXOMARK Gold Label for imaging performance. This score positions the device among the elite cameras in the foldable smartphone category, ranking it 8th globally and surpassing competitors such as the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Motorola’s recently launched Motorola Signature has also received the same accolade from the testing lab.
For those unfamiliar, DXOMARK is an independent technology evaluation laboratory that assesses consumer electronics through controlled scientific tests and perceptual analysis. The Razr fold was evaluated using the DXOMARK Camera test suite, which examines photo quality, zoom capabilities, and video performance from a user perspective.
DXOMARK’s findings revealed that the Razr fold excelled in exposure accuracy, dynamic range, and low-light photography. The device produced balanced colors across various lighting conditions while maintaining excellent detail and relatively low image noise. The lab also noted accurate skin tone rendering and consistent depth estimation, enhancing the natural appearance of portrait shots.
Zoom performance was another standout feature in the evaluation. The Razr fold is equipped with a dedicated 3x periscope telephoto camera, which delivered detailed images with stable color reproduction during testing. DXOMARK highlighted a balanced texture-to-noise ratio, ensuring clarity in zoomed images. Portrait photography benefited from the 85mm equivalent focal length, providing natural subject separation. The ultra-wide camera captured a broad field of view while maintaining consistent image quality.
The camera system on the Razr fold comprises three 50MP rear cameras featuring Sony LYTIA sensors. The 50MP main camera utilizes the Sony LYTIA 828 sensor, which Motorola claims is its largest 50MP sensor to date. The system supports AI-based image processing, producing photos with Pantone-validated color and skin tone calibration.
The 50MP periscope telephoto camera employs the Sony LYTIA 600 sensor and supports 3x optical zoom. The phone also features a 100x Super Zoom Pro, leveraging AI processing to preserve detail at long distances. Optical image stabilization is included to minimize blur in zoom shots. The 50MP ultra-wide camera offers a 122° field of view and supports Macro Vision for close-up photography.
For selfies and video calls, the device is equipped with a 20MP front camera featuring Quad Pixel technology and a 32MP internal camera with the same technology, suitable for hands-free photos or video calls in laptop mode.
Video recording capabilities on the Razr fold support 8K resolution with Dolby Vision, enhancing dynamic range and improving color reproduction.
Image processing is managed by Motorola’s Photo Enhancement Engine, which utilizes AI to expand dynamic range, reduce noise, and create software-based bokeh effects. The system is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, which supports AI processing for enhanced camera performance and efficiency.
