Mohun Bagan and SC Delhi Battle to a 2-2 Draw in ISL Match

New Delhi, April 26: The Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 saw an exciting clash on Sunday as Mohun Bagan Sporting Club faced SC Delhi, ending in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. T. Edison Singh and Hira Mandal each scored a goal, helping Mohun Bagan make a remarkable comeback to level the match.

With this result, Mohun Bagan secured their third consecutive point, bringing their total to three points from ten matches. However, they remain at the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, SC Delhi climbed to the tenth position with nine points from the same number of matches.

SC Delhi took an early lead in the match, maintaining possession and pushing Mohun Bagan back into their half. In the 17th minute, Mohammad Aimen was fouled by Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Padam Chhetri inside the penalty area. Matija Babovic stepped up to convert the penalty, giving the home team the advantage.

The home side controlled the match for a significant period. Aimen and Augustin Lalrochan combined for several attacks, while Mohun Bagan struggled to advance. However, after the drinks break, the visitors gradually regained their composure and began to control the ball more effectively.

Their improved performance paid off in the 40th minute when forward Thokchom Edison Singh scored with a powerful shot, leveling the score.

The second half showcased a more balanced contest, with Mohun Bagan displaying increased aggression in their attacks. Yet, in the 52nd minute, SC Delhi regained the lead. Lalrochan’s shot was saved by Padam Chhetri, but the ball remained in the box and fell to Babovic, who quickly scored his second goal of the evening.

Undeterred, Mohun Bagan maintained their pressure and were rewarded again in the 65th minute. From a short corner, Lalngaihsaka delivered a cross from the right, and Hira Mandal, unmarked at the far post, headed the ball into the top corner, equalizing once more.

In the final quarter of the match, both teams pushed for the win, creating several scoring opportunities. Mohun Bagan’s Lalthankima came close, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Fernandes. On the other side, SC Delhi’s Sourav and Rafael Ribeiro posed threats, but both were thwarted by Padam Chhetri.

In the closing moments, both teams displayed relentless attacking play, yet neither could find the decisive goal. Strong defensive efforts and excellent goalkeeping resulted in a draw, with both teams earning one point each.
