Orleans, April 3 : India’s Mithun Manjunath’s incredible run at the Orleans Masters badminton tournament ended as a runner-up after losing 21-11, 21-19 to Toma J or Popov of France in the final here on Sunday. The Indian shuttler, who is world No. 79, overcame his 189th-ranked Indonesian Christian Adinata 21-18, 21-14 in the semi-finals to set up a meeting with Frenchman. In the round of 16, he defeated world No. 22 Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark. Mithum was the lone Indian left in the tournament after women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam’s campaign ended with a close semifinal loss to Germany’s Stine Kuspert and Emma Moszczynski. Olympian and top seed Sai Praneeth, however, faced early exit. In the women’s singles, youngster Anupama Upadhyaya ousted in semifinal after losing a close three setter to Wen Yu Zhang of Canada.
