Kolkata, May 9: The oath-taking ceremony of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari as Chief Minister in Kolkata on Saturday showcased several moments that are now trending on social media. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty.

Mithun Chakraborty’s appearance at the ceremony was notably unique. He wore a kurta-pajama paired with a shawl and a red cap. Upon arriving on stage, he attempted to touch the feet of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who gently stopped him and shook his hand instead. Following this, he embraced Home Minister Amit Shah, a moment that has since gone viral online.

After meeting Rajnath and Amit Shah, Mithun greeted BJP National President Nitin Nabin and then interacted with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He also tried to touch Naidu’s feet, but Naidu smiled and shook his hand, engaging in friendly conversation. Mithun continued to meet other leaders, including BJP’s J.P. Nadda and Yogi Adityanath, whom he also touched the feet of, before hugging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

This video has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many praising Mithun for his gestures, attributing them to his ‘values.’

Reflecting on Mithun Chakraborty’s political career, he entered politics in 2014 when he was elected as a Rajya Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress. He raised issues related to West Bengal and social topics in Parliament but resigned in 2016 citing health reasons. After a long hiatus from politics, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2021 and has since been a regular presence at political events.
