
Lucknow, May 7: The 50th match of IPL 2026 is underway between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. In a stunning display of batting, Mitchell Marsh has become the fastest century scorer for LSG.
Marsh achieved his century in just 49 balls against RCB, breaking the previous record held by LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who scored his century in 54 balls last season. The RCB bowlers struggled against Marsh, who scored 111 runs off 56 balls at an impressive strike rate of 198. His innings included 9 fours and 9 towering sixes.
With this performance, Marsh has equaled KL Rahul for the most centuries for LSG in IPL history, with both players having scored two centuries each. He has surpassed Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, and Pant in this regard.
Marsh partnered with Arshin Kulkarni to add 95 runs for the first wicket in just 9.2 overs. Kulkarni scored 17 runs off 24 balls before being dismissed. However, Marsh continued his excellent form, adding 70 runs with Nicholas Pooran for the second wicket off 41 balls.
Josh Hazlewood eventually sent Marsh back to the pavilion, while Pooran contributed 38 runs off 23 balls. In the final overs, captain Rishabh Pant played a blistering knock, scoring an unbeaten 32 runs off just 10 balls, helping LSG post a total of 209 runs for 3 wickets in 19 overs. Due to rain delays, the match was reduced to 19 overs per side, with interruptions occurring twice during LSG’s innings.
