A 27-year-old man intervened on Monday to stop a runaway school bus in St. Paul, Minnesota, saving 18 children on board after the driver experienced a medical emergency.
Ebro Ahmed was outside a convenience store when he noticed a school bus from Battle Creek Middle School rolling past with its doors wide open and its lights flashing. Concerned, he saw the driver seizing up and immediately ran to the bus.
Surveillance footage captured Ahmed sprinting towards the moving bus. He jumped inside and attempted to stop it. “I tried to put it in park, I threw it in reverse by accident, and then I ended up getting it in neutral, pulled the parking brake,” he said, recounting the chaotic moments.
Ahmed, who has no formal medical training, credited the TV show.
