Bareilly, August 1: Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, accused individuals associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP) of issuing threats. He claims to have presented evidence regarding alleged irregularities in the management of properties owned by the Waqf Board.
Maulana Shahabuddin stated, “Members of the Samajwadi Party are trying to intimidate and pressure me. I am a Muslim who has complete faith in Allah. Therefore, I will not be afraid of these hollow threats.”
Previously, the religious leader had written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the misuse of Waqf Board properties.
Discussing the alleged misuse, Maulana Shahabuddin mentioned, “I had demanded an investigation into these properties because a significant scam has occurred. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his party members have asked for evidence, claiming that my allegations are baseless and that I have no proof.”
He further clarified, “While Akhilesh Yadav speaks about the theft of donations for the Ram Temple, which amounted to only 2.5 to 3 crore rupees, the scam related to Waqf Board lands is worth billions.”
The Maulana added, “Today, I visited the District Magistrate’s office and presented evidence and documents concerning two properties in Bareilly district. This includes 1400 bighas of Waqf land in the Baheri tehsil, which is currently being sold. I have provided proof for this.”
He also claimed that the second piece of evidence he presented is from Chandpur Bichpuri in Bareilly. “A Waqf property was sold there, which is now valued at one hundred crore rupees due to urbanization in the area,” he stated.
The Muslim leader asserted that the Waqf funds were meant to assist poor, orphaned, and widowed Muslims. He lamented, “Only corruption has occurred, and individuals have misused the funds for personal gain.”
In an appeal to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maulana Shahabuddin urged, “I request the Chief Minister and the District Magistrate to investigate all these properties so that the truth comes to light and the money reaches poor Muslims.”
