Imphal, May 13: The Manipur government clarified on Tuesday that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel in the state. Additionally, the government has issued a stern warning against black marketing, hoarding, and other irregularities related to petroleum products.
Yumnam Nelson, the Director of the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department, stated that the department has noted the misinformation circulating about a shortage of LPG and other petroleum products in Manipur.
He emphasized that such misleading and unfounded claims are deceiving consumers and creating unnecessary panic among the public.
According to officials, the state-level coordinator of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, based in Imphal, has confirmed that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel in the state.
They reported that there is sufficient stock available throughout Manipur, and supply is continuing smoothly.
Nelson further mentioned that Indian Oil Corporation Limited has also confirmed the availability of adequate stock of LPG and petroleum products, with distribution ongoing without any interruptions.
The Director of Consumer Affairs urged consumers not to panic and to avoid unnecessary hoarding of LPG cylinders and petroleum products, as such activities could lead to accidents and serious safety hazards.
He also warned that strict action would be taken against any individual or entity found involved in black marketing, hoarding, or any irregular activities related to the sale and distribution of petroleum products.
Nelson cautioned that purchasing petrol and diesel in containers or jerry cans is strictly prohibited.
He stated that legal action would be initiated against oil pumps and retail outlets that violate government directives.
