Manipur CM Promises Strict Action Amid Rising Tensions Following Deadly Blast

Imphal, April 10: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state amid rising tensions following a deadly blast earlier this week.

During a high-level security review meeting, CM Khemchand emphasized that decisive measures are being taken to prevent and neutralize any threats to public order.

This marks the third such review meeting since the tragic incident on April 7, when a powerful bomb was reportedly fired by suspected Kuki militants at a house in the village of Tronglaobi Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district. The explosion claimed the lives of a five-year-old boy and his five-month-old sister, who were reportedly asleep at the time. Their mother was injured, and the house sustained significant damage.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister posted on Facebook, stating that they conducted a comprehensive review of current concerns, assessed existing measures, and strengthened their coordinated response to ensure effective implementation on the ground.

Reiterating the government’s stance, he affirmed their full commitment to maintaining peace and stability. He urged all citizens to remain calm and cooperate with authorities, emphasizing that through collective responsibility and vigilance, they can restore normalcy and ensure a safe and peaceful Manipur.

The high-level meeting included Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goyal, Chief Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home) N. Ashok Kumar, along with senior officials from various security agencies and Manipur Police.
