Guwahati, May 17: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has once again demonstrated its commitment to passenger safety by conducting operations that led to the arrest of three individuals across different locations.
According to Kapinjol Kishore Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, multiple stolen mobile phones were recovered from the arrested individuals during these operations.
Last week, the Anti-Drug Squad team in Guwahati apprehended a man on the Northeast Express traveling from New Delhi to Guwahati. He is accused of stealing passengers’ belongings and was found in possession of two stolen mobile phones valued at approximately ₹30,000.
The accused and the recovered items were handed over to the Guwahati Government Railway Police (GRP), where a case was registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In another operation, the RPF team from the Katihar (East) post arrested a man at the Katihar railway station in Bihar last week. He was found with a stolen mobile phone worth around ₹32,000 and was subsequently transferred to the GRP Katihar for further legal action.
Similarly, the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) team in Rangiya, Assam, arrested an individual at the Rangiya railway station on the New Tinsukia-Amritsar Express. Two stolen mobile phones valued at approximately ₹25,000 were recovered from him. He was later handed over to the GRP Rangiya for further legal proceedings.
CPRO Sharma emphasized that the Northeast Frontier Railway is fully committed to providing a safe travel environment. Passengers are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to railway authorities immediately.
