Major Reshuffle in Bihar Police: 63 Officers Transferred by Home Department

Patna, May 16: In a significant move to strengthen governance, the government led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has executed a major reshuffle within the Bihar Police administration.

Following the recent transfer of 16 IPS officers, the Home Department announced the transfer of 61 officers at the DSP rank along with two IPS officers on Friday. This action underscores the ongoing commitment to enhance law and order in the state.

According to the official notification, several Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) have been assigned new responsibilities. Many of these officers have been placed in sensitive and strategic units, including the Cyber Crime Wing, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and the Special Vigilance Unit.

These appointments are viewed as a strategic initiative aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness to emerging security challenges.

Notably, Nurul Haq has been transferred from the SDPO position in Bihar Sharif to serve as the Assistant Director General of Police (Inspection) in Patna.

Pankaj Kumar, stationed in Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur district, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police in the Special Vigilance Unit in Patna. Another officer named Pankaj Kumar, previously serving in the Sadar subdivision of Begusarai district, has been assigned as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the ATS.

Raghunath Singh has been moved from the Special Branch to the Cyber Crime Unit.

Raghav Dayal, serving as SDPO in Jaynagar, has been appointed as DSP in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Patna.

Abhijit Kumar Singh, stationed in the Sadar subdivision of Katihar district, has been appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police in Patna’s Crime and Security Unit.

Sunil Kumar Singh, serving in Rajgir, has been transferred to the Cyber Crime and Security Unit.

Kalyan Anand, stationed in Kahalgaon, has been appointed as DSP (Cyber Crime) in Saharsa.

IPS officer Garima has been transferred from Saraiya in Muzaffarpur district to serve as SDPO in Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur district, while IPS officer Saket Kumar has been moved from Tarapur in Munger district to become the SDPO of Sadar Bihar Sharif.

This extensive reshuffle aims to strengthen critical policing units, enhance coordination among various departments, and deploy experienced officers in high-priority areas. Another objective of these transfers is to improve the police response mechanism against cybercrime and organized criminal activities.

This ongoing reshuffle highlights the state government’s determination to maintain strict oversight of law and order and ensure active, efficient, and accountable policing in the face of emerging security challenges.
