Jamnagar, April 9: In a significant operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Gujarat seized a large consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at approximately ₹1.4 crore on the Jamnagar-Rajkot highway. The operation led to the arrest of the truck driver.

The LCB conducted the operation late at night near the Jambuda village junction, acting on specific intelligence.

Officials stopped a closed-body Bharat Benz truck for inspection, uncovering 29,243 bottles of liquor in various sizes. The estimated value of this haul is ₹1,39,79,800.

The driver, identified as Raju alias Devo Mori, 30, hails from Adityana village in Porbandar district and was arrested at the scene.

Initial inquiries revealed that the consignment was ordered by Karshan Kodiyatar from Ranavav and Dudabhai Kodiyatar from Bhanwad. Both individuals, along with an unidentified supplier who remains at large, have been implicated in the case.

Authorities stated that the unknown supplier is known to Karshan, and efforts are underway to track him down.

According to officials, the total estimated value of the seized items, which includes the liquor, the truck valued at ₹20 lakh, and a mobile phone worth ₹5,000, amounts to ₹1,59,84,800.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Prohibition Act at the Panchkoshi A-Division police station, and further investigations are underway.

The authorities confirmed that the vehicle was stopped based on specific information, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of IMFL. One individual has been arrested, and efforts to apprehend other suspects are ongoing.

Investigations are also focused on tracing the source of the consignment, the transportation route, and its intended recipients in Jamnagar. The police are probing the expansion of an interstate network involved in liquor supply within the state, where prohibition laws are enforced.
