Baramulla, May 19: A severe fire broke out at a paint shop located in Kanli Bagh, Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The blaze erupted at the BK Traders paint warehouse and was brought under control after a three-hour operation involving seven fire engines. The rescue efforts were supported by the army and local police. Four local youths sustained injuries during the incident.
Majid, in charge of the Sopore headquarters, spoke to a news agency, stating that improper parking of vehicles and motorcycles caused significant difficulties in managing the situation. He noted that community members assisted in the firefighting efforts. Fire pumps were installed from Baramulla (three), Sopore (two), Sangrama (one), and Dariyaw (two) to help extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, and an investigation will be conducted after the rescue operation concludes. The nature of the paint shop posed additional challenges in controlling the fire. Majid confirmed that the firefighting efforts took over two hours, with assistance from army and police personnel.
In a related incident, a fire recently broke out at a firecracker factory in Devas, Madhya Pradesh, prompting local authorities to initiate inspections of all firecracker factories in the district. Following a directive from the district collector, thorough investigations were launched.
Additionally, on May 17, a fire incident occurred in an AC coach of the Capital Express in Kota, Rajasthan. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely evacuated. In response, the railway authorities have begun inspections of fire safety systems across the country.
