New Delhi, May 2: In a significant achievement against drug trafficking, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Delhi Police has arrested a drug supplier under its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics. A substantial quantity of cannabis was seized from the accused. Officials stated that this operation highlights the proactive approach and operational efficiency of the Delhi Police in addressing the drug menace at the grassroots level.
The suspect has been identified as Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. In response to rising concerns about drug trafficking, a specialized team was formed and deployed in the eastern district area. This team was actively engaged in monitoring and identifying drug traffickers.
While the team was already on patrol and surveillance duty, they received a tip-off about an individual selling cannabis near the Ghazipur vegetable market. Acting promptly on this information, the team arrived at the location, conducted surveillance, and identified a suspicious individual.
Noticing the police presence, the suspect attempted to flee. However, due to the team’s prior deployment and vigilance, he was quickly apprehended. A search revealed that he was in possession of 1.957 kilograms of cannabis. During interrogation, the accused admitted to being involved in the local supply of cannabis, which he had acquired to earn quick money and to support his drug addiction.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody. Further investigations are underway to trace previous and subsequent links related to the case.
