Major Drug Bust in Ahmedabad: Over ₹1.57 Lakh Worth of Drugs Seized, Two Arrested

Ahmedabad, April 12: Authorities reported on Sunday that the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested two individuals during a raid in the Baharampura area of Gujarat, where they were found with illegal narcotics.

Acting on specific intelligence, officials conducted the operation near a private company wall in front of the Santosh Nagar Four Buildings and apprehended Hasmukh Sargara (27) and Manish Sargara (26).

Police revealed that the suspects were in possession of 52.410 grams of methamphetamine, valued at ₹1,57,230, without any permits.

A case has been registered against the two accused and the drug supplier under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the DCB police station, with further legal actions underway.

During the operation, police seized not only the narcotics but also other items, including three mobile phones worth ₹15,000, ₹6,000 in cash, a Honda Activa scooter, a pocket weighing scale, and several empty zipper bags.

According to the press note, the total estimated value of the seized assets is ₹1,98,920.

Investigators noted that both suspects are residents of Santosh Nagar in Baharampura and originally hail from Barmer district in Rajasthan.

This seizure is part of a broader campaign against drugs in Gujarat that has intensified in recent months. Earlier this month, a significant operation led by anti-terrorism squads from Gujarat and Rajasthan resulted in the seizure of approximately 5 kilograms of methamphetamine worth ₹25 crore, linked to a major smuggling network.

In another case, the Gujarat ATS uncovered an interstate supply chain after a small seizure in Ahmedabad, leading to the recovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine and related chemicals from a clandestine manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh.
