Major Decisions by Central Cabinet: Farmer Subsidies, Arunachal Hydro Projects, and Jaipur Metro Phase-2 Approved

New Delhi, April 8: In a significant meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, the Central Cabinet made several important decisions focused on farmers’ welfare, clean energy development, and strengthening urban infrastructure.

Prime Minister Modi shared these decisions on the social media platform X, emphasizing that the government prioritizes the interests of farmers.

In a post, he stated, “Even amidst global challenges, the welfare of our farmer brothers and sisters has always been our government’s priority. In this direction, the increase in Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) for the Kharif season of 2026 has been approved. This will ensure that our farmers continue to receive fertilizers at affordable rates.”

This decision will enhance subsidies on phosphatic and potassic fertilizers, making DAP and other fertilizers available at lower prices for Kharif crops.

The Cabinet also approved two major hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh: the Kamla Hydro Electric Project (1,720 megawatts) and the Kalai-II Hydroelectric Project (1,200 megawatts).

PM Modi noted, “With the Cabinet’s approval of the Kamla Hydro Electric Project, we are strengthening India’s clean energy ecosystem and promoting integrated development in Arunachal Pradesh.”

In another post, he highlighted, “A significant boost for clean energy and development in the Northeast. The approval of the Kalai-II Hydroelectric Project will enhance power supply, promote sustainable energy production, and increase infrastructure and opportunities in the region.”

These projects are expected to generate thousands of megawatts of clean electricity, bolstering the national grid and accelerating regional development.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the second phase (Phase-2) of the Jaipur Metro. PM Modi remarked, “Jaipur is ready for a major infrastructure upgrade. The Cabinet has approved Jaipur Metro Phase-2, which will enhance connectivity, reduce congestion, and improve the ease of living.”

These Cabinet decisions are seen as crucial steps towards making India self-reliant and promoting sustainable development amid global challenges. Providing affordable fertilizers will strengthen food security, while hydro projects will advance renewable energy goals. The expansion of Jaipur Metro will improve traffic management in the capital of Rajasthan.

There is hope that these decisions will bring a new momentum of development across various sectors in the country. The government’s focus remains on farmer welfare, clean energy, and enhanced urban facilities.
