Mumbai, March 9: The popular Star Plus series ‘Anupamaa’ is undergoing significant changes once again. Recent promo videos indicate a substantial leap in the storyline, and now, it has been confirmed that actress Bhavna Ajwani, who has been portraying the character of Prerna, is being replaced. The story, which revolves around Prerna’s growing involvement in the romantic lives of the characters, is set to take a new direction with the introduction of a new actress in this pivotal role.

Following the unexpected death of Prerna, Anupamaa’s life is about to change dramatically as she embarks on a new journey starting from Goa.

New Actress Cast as Prerna

With this leap, the show’s makers have made a significant cast change. Bhavna Ajwani has bid farewell to the show, and actress Nidhi Shetty has been cast as the new Prerna. Nidhi Shetty was previously seen in Ishita Shahi’s web series ‘Jab Zodiacs Met,’ where she played the character of Jia. Notably, this series was also produced under Rajan Shahi’s production house, Directors Cut.

Will Prerna Become the Main Villain?

Nidhi Shetty’s entry is expected to bring a fresh momentum to the storyline, as the makers aim to elevate the show’s ratings and drama. Prerna’s character, which was introduced in December, quickly established itself as a formidable antagonist. Her role involves creating rifts between Prem and Rahi. Recently, it has been shown that Prerna has become increasingly obsessed with Prem, causing significant turmoil in his married life with Rahi following the Holi celebrations.

Will ‘New Journey’ Magic Work Again?

With a one-year leap and a new setting in Goa, ‘Anupamaa’ is set for a fresh start. However, whenever a leap occurs, it presents a significant opportunity for the makers, while also raising viewers’ anticipation. It remains to be seen how these changes will resonate with the audience and whether the show can maintain its ‘new journey’ formula successfully.
