Rameshwaram, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted several world leaders at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday, September 12. The backdrop for this significant event was the stunning image of the Ramanathaswamy Temple, located in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu.
During the welcome ceremony, Modi greeted prominent figures including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, among others.
Modi was seen explaining the significance of the temple to Xi Jinping, highlighting its cultural importance. He also engaged in discussions with various leaders, providing insights about the temple’s background.
The Ramanathaswamy Temple, situated on Pamban Island in Rameshwaram, is one of Hinduism’s most revered pilgrimage sites. It is among the twelve Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Known for its grand corridors, intricate architecture, and unique religious rituals, the temple symbolizes faith, rich culture, and a long-standing history. Its significance is deeply rooted in Hindu tradition, often associated with the epic Ramayana, and represents a place for purification and spiritual transformation, holding a special status as a major religious center in India.
India is hosting the 18th BRICS summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12-13. Leaders from BRICS member and partner countries, along with representatives from invited outreach nations, are participating in the event.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the theme of India’s BRICS presidency is “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” This reflects Prime Minister Modi’s “Humanity First” approach, emphasizing a people-centric perspective.
In his opening remarks at the summit, Modi warmly welcomed the BRICS leaders, stating that India’s presidency is grounded in a human-centered and humanity-first approach. He emphasized that resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability have been key priorities. Over 350 meetings have been organized under this framework, allowing for engagement with teams from nearly 30 cities.
Modi stressed that BRICS has established a distinct identity on the global stage, asserting that the group is not against anyone and should work towards an inclusive future. He also called for the establishment of a mechanism for “BRICS continuity and implementation.”
