Mahila Congress holds protest march against price hike

New Delhi, March 31 : Netta D’Souza, President of the Mahila Congress, slammed the BJP government at the center on Thursday for the “unprecedented” price rise of essential commodities, saying the “anti-people” Modi government has completely demolished household budgets of every section of society. In view of the price rise, the All India Mahila Congress launched the “Mehangai Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”, under which a massive protest march was conducted from Jantar Mantar to Parliament House. Office bearers from across the states also took part in the protest, which was led by the Mahila Congress President, Netta D’Souza. “The daily and unprecedented price rise of essential commodities imposed by the anti-people Modi Govt has completely demolished household budgets and every section of society is burdened by rapidly depleting savings,” Netta D’Souza said. She said, “Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, and our leader, Rahul Gandhi, have time and again underlined the miseries faced by the common people by the unending price rise.” “Thousands of Mahila Congress office bearers and workers used creative methods such as huge cutouts of essential commodities, tall-man props, funeral pyres of LPG cylinders, and even enacted a Nukkad Natak against price rise,” she said. Netta D’Souza said Congress is a party that gave independence to the nation “And this time, Mahila Congress has pledged that they will continue raising the voice of common people, especially women, who are fed-up with the daily price rise of essential commodities. Only Congress can usher in Mehangai Mukt Bharat.” Petrol and diesel prices were on Thursday hiked by 80 paise a litre each, taking the total increase in rates in the last 10 days to Rs 6.40 per litre.
