BJP demands action against mine mafias operating in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 31 : Opposition Chief Whip and BJP leader Mohan Majhi on Thursday urged Speaker S N Patro to direct the government to take action against mine mafias operating in the state. Raising the issue during zero hours, Majhi said every year minor minerals like sand, stone and Muharram worth around Rs 35,000 crore are being smuggled out by mine mafias. The loot is going on without the knowledge of the police and officers and the department concerned is silent over the issue. The mine mafias, he alleged are threatening to murder the people including MLAs for opposing illegal mining and its transportation. Majhi said as many as 27 MLAs of both the ruling and opposition parties are the target of Mine mafias and asked who will give them protection. He urged the Speaker to direct the government to take action against the mine mafias. BD DP ARN
