Maharashtra Extends Voter List Verification Deadline to November 13, Urges Citizens to Check Their Details

Maharashtras CM Devendra Fadnavis urges citizens to verify voter details as the deadline for corrections is extended to November 13, 2026.

Mumbai, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged residents to verify their names and details in the voter list. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to November 13, 2026.

In a message shared on social media, Fadnavis noted that this extension provides eligible citizens with additional time to register, correct errors, or file necessary objections in the voter list. According to the revised schedule, claims and objections can be submitted from August 31 to November 13, 2026. The resolution process will be completed by November 25, and the final voter list is set to be published on November 30, 2026.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of carefully checking the draft voter list for personal details. He encouraged citizens to submit applications for new registrations, name corrections, or objections by the November 13 deadline. This extended opportunity allows every eligible citizen to secure their voting rights, ensuring the voter list remains accurate, complete, and up-to-date. A reliable voter list is fundamental to a strong democracy, and active citizen participation enhances the credibility of the democratic process.

In related news, the Election Commission has revised the SIR program in Nagaland, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The extension aims to provide voters and political parties with more time to engage in the process of filing claims and objections.

The deadline for Maharashtra has now been set to November 13. Following this, claims and objections will be resolved by November 25, with the final voter list published on November 30. The Election Commission has instructed the Chief Electoral Officers to disseminate information about the revised schedule through all available channels. Political parties have also been notified in writing about the new deadlines.

The commission aims to make voter lists more accurate, updated, and error-free, ensuring that all eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote.
