Chennai, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Madras High Court has granted MK Stalin, the president of the DMK, until September 21 to file his response in a defamation case. This lawsuit was initiated by Minister Aadhav Arjun, who is seeking damages of ₹1 crore.
Stalin had previously posted on his X account, alleging that John Britto, who is reportedly involved in a drug trafficking case, is a relative of Minister Arjun. Citing a statement from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Stalin claimed that Britto is the mastermind behind a ₹258 crore drug smuggling operation and is connected to Arjun.
In response, Minister Arjun filed a lawsuit against Stalin in the Madras High Court, denying any relationship with Britto. He argued that Stalin’s post was intended to tarnish his reputation. Arjun’s petition also requested that Stalin and the DMK IT wing remove the posts that allegedly defamed him.
During the hearing, Justice Govindarajan Thilakavathi instructed Stalin and the DMK IT wing to submit their response to Arjun’s petition. When the case was heard again, senior counsel representing Stalin requested an extension until September 21 to file a counter-affidavit. The judge accepted this request and postponed the hearing until that date.
