Madhya Pradesh Government Announces Week-Long Celebrations for Ambedkar Jayanti

Bhopal, April 8: The Madhya Pradesh government has unveiled plans for a week-long series of events to celebrate the birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar, running from April 8 to April 14.

The initiative aims to promote social harmony and connect with people at the grassroots level. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared this decision during a cabinet meeting.

He instructed that the celebrations should not be confined to district headquarters but should also reach block levels.

According to a statement released by the state government on Tuesday, state-level events will be held in Bhind. The responsibility for planning and overseeing district-level programs has been assigned to the respective district ministers.

The statement emphasized that this initiative is not merely a ceremonial event but a significant part of the government’s broader outreach. District administrations have been directed to tailor programs according to the needs of their respective areas.

Preparations for the events are in full swing, and detailed plans for district and block-level activities will be finalized soon.

It is noteworthy that the Madhya Pradesh government is constructing an ‘Ambedkar Dham’ in Gwalior, which will include a memorial for B.R. Ambedkar. Recently, the government approved a budget of 200 million rupees for this project, to be released in two phases.

According to a previous statement from the Madhya Pradesh government, the Ambedkar Dham will feature a digital library, a museum, an auditorium, a conference hall, and a large library.

This will be the second memorial for Ambedkar in Madhya Pradesh; the first was established in Mahu, Indore, his birthplace. A grand memorial already exists there, where the ‘Ambedkar Kumbh’ is held annually to commemorate his birth anniversary.

In line with this, the government has also introduced a long-term social agenda. It announced that social harmony programs will be organized across the state until March 31, 2027, in honor of Sant Ravidas’s birth anniversary.

These ongoing announcements indicate that the state government is striving to link these anniversary celebrations with its continuous social messages, particularly those related to inclusion and harmony.
