Bhopal, April 12: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Sunday that the overall development of the state is not possible without the comprehensive growth of daughters and sisters.
He made this remark while addressing a grand women empowerment conference in Ashta, where he directly transferred the 35th installment of the ambitious Ladli Bahna scheme.
Yadav mentioned, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, a historic initiative is set to begin this month. For the first time since independence, a three-day parliamentary session starting April 16 will ensure 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.”
He added, “To empower women, over ₹55,000 crore has been distributed under the Ladli Bahna scheme. Today, from the sacred land of Ashta, ₹1,836 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 1.25 crore Ladli sisters with just one click. Now, every month feels like the festival of Raksha Bandhan in Madhya Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister described Ashta as a ‘Triveni Sangam’ of development, education, and women’s empowerment. He announced several new initiatives for girls’ education, including the construction of a new building for the girls’ higher secondary school and hostels for college and school students.
He also inaugurated new Sandeepani school buildings in Ashta and Jawar. The Ashta campus, built on 15 acres at a cost of ₹61 crore, accommodates nearly 3,800 students from KG-1 to 12th grade. Meanwhile, the Jawar school was constructed at a cost of ₹39.45 crore.
Both schools feature modern libraries, computer labs, playgrounds, botanical gardens, rainwater harvesting systems, and sewage treatment plants. Free bus services are also available for students from around 100 villages.
The Chief Minister announced the establishment of a new ITI, girls’ hostel, urban beautification projects in Jawar, a district-level SC hostel, a new building for the girls’ higher secondary school, a science faculty at Jawar College, a new dam on the Doodhi River, canal construction, and the establishment of Geeta Bhawan in Ashta.
He reported that Madhya Pradesh now has over 12 lakh ‘Lakshmi Didis’ and more than 5 lakh self-help groups, involving over 65 lakh women. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana, financial assistance of ₹55,000 is provided for the marriage of daughters from economically weaker families. The state is also distributing 4 lakh bicycles, laptops to meritorious students, and scooters to school toppers.
On this occasion, he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth ₹184 crore, including roads, community buildings, police housing, drinking water schemes under Amrit 2.0, and beautification works.
