Low Pressure Area likely to develop over Northeast Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood: IMD

It is likely to become more marked over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood during subsequent 24 hours.

Under the influence of likely formation of a low pressure area over Northeast Bay of Bengal and consequent strengthening of lower level winds along the West Coast including Kerala, heavy to Very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy at one or two places in Kerala on 19th & 20th September.

Impact expected over central and north Kerala on 19th & 20th September 2020.

— Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas of the above region

–Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall

–Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time

— Minor damage to kutcha roads

–Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure

–Localized Mudslides.

–Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
