Mumbai, March 17: Lenovo appears poised to re-enter the gaming phone market after a period of silence. A recently spotted device bearing the Legion name has surfaced online, signaling a potential revival of the long-dormant lineup.
The last Legion-branded smartphone, the Legion Y70, was launched in August 2022. At that time, it featured Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and an advanced cooling system designed to maintain performance during extended gaming sessions. Although it was a strong contender, the series did not continue after that release, as Lenovo gradually distanced itself from gaming phones.
This recent sighting has generated considerable interest. During what seems to have been a Lenovo event in China, a company representative was photographed with an unreleased Legion-branded smartphone. The images, later shared on Weibo, provide a clear view of the device’s back.
The rear design showcases a rectangular camera island positioned in the upper-left corner, featuring a triple-camera setup along with an LED flash. Prominently displayed beneath the camera module is the Lenovo Legion branding.
Interestingly, this design appears more subdued compared to previous Legion models, which heavily emphasized gaming aesthetics. The new device seems to adopt a more conventional look, suggesting that Lenovo may be striving for a balance between gaming performance and everyday usability.
If Lenovo intends to compete in the current gaming phone landscape, this device will likely target the same performance segment as competitors like the RedMagic 11 Pro and the iQOO 15. This would imply the inclusion of a flagship chipset, a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display—likely 144Hz or higher—a large battery, and fast charging capabilities. Additionally, advanced cooling solutions, such as a large vapor chamber or even active fan cooling, are expected.
As of now, Lenovo has not officially confirmed the device’s existence. However, its appearance at a company event indicates that development may be well underway. If this is the case, an official announcement could be on the horizon—potentially within the next few months.
