Leaders Pay Tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His Death Anniversary

New Delhi, August 16: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other leaders, paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary in New Delhi on Sunday. They participated in a prayer meeting held in memory of Vajpayee, who was honored with the title ‘Bharat Ratna’.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and BJP National President Nitin Naveen were among the many leaders who paid their respects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several central ministers also offered their tributes. Union Minister Piyush Goyal shared a post on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “On the memorial day of former Prime Minister and founder of the BJP, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who inspired millions of workers, I pay my heartfelt homage. His commitment to good governance, development, and national pride will always guide us.”

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak posted on ‘X’, expressing, “On the death anniversary of the great leader of Indian politics and our source of inspiration, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, I offer my heartfelt tribute.”

Bihar government minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also shared a post, stating, “Today, at the headquarters in Lakhisarai, I paid floral tributes to the dynamic politician, skilled speaker, nationalist thinker, and our source of inspiration, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. His dedication to national service, good governance, democratic values, and national interest will always inspire us. His thoughts and ideals will continue to guide future generations. A humble tribute to Atal Ji.”

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was not only a politician but also a poet and writer. He served as Prime Minister three times: briefly in 1996 (for 13 days), then from 1998 to 1999 (for 13 months), and finally from 1999 to 2004 for a full term. Vajpayee passed away on August 16, 2018, at AIIMS in New Delhi.
