Leaders Mourn the Untimely Passing of Journalist Payal Mehta

New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Senior journalist Payal Mehta’s sudden passing has drawn condolences from prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Education Minister Pralhad Joshi.

Reports indicate that Mehta experienced discomfort during a trip to Mumbai. She was taken to the hospital around 2 AM on Saturday night, but unfortunately, she passed away before treatment could begin.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, “Payal Mehta was a diligent journalist who remained grounded and brought a deep understanding of national issues to her reporting. Beyond her work, she will be remembered for the kindness and affection she showed to many. Her sudden and untimely demise is deeply saddening. My condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues. May God grant them strength during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh shared his shock on social media, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of journalist Payal Mehta’s untimely death. She left us far too soon. Payal was a hardworking and dedicated journalist who covered parliamentary proceedings with utmost professionalism. During parliamentary sessions, she was present from morning until late at night, tirelessly monitoring proceedings with incredible dedication.”

Education Minister Pralhad Joshi also expressed his condolences, stating, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of Payal Mehta. She will be remembered for her calm demeanor, deep understanding of journalism, thoughtful questions, and integrity in her work. We had many long conversations during my time dealing with parliamentary affairs. Her contributions to journalism will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. May God provide them strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his sorrow, writing, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of my dear friend and journalist Payal Mehta. Her dedication to reporting was exemplary.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his grief, stating, “I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about journalist Payal Mehta’s passing in Mumbai. I have known her for a long time. She was full of life and brought remarkable energy to everything she did. Despite her dedication to work, what stood out was how much she valued her relationships. My heartfelt condolences to her family; I pray they find the strength to overcome this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also expressed his sadness, saying, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of senior journalist Payal Mehta. She was an honest and dedicated journalist who worked tirelessly on every story. She reported from the ground in Andhra Pradesh several times, and whenever we met in Parliament, she would always come to share updates. What I will remember most is her enthusiasm, dedication to journalism, and the warm smile she greeted everyone with. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Her untimely demise is truly tragic.”
