Born on February 22, 1949, Lalduhoma has been serving as the 6th Chief Minister of Mizoram since December 8, 2023. He is also the founder and president of the regional political party, Zoram Nationalist Party.

Lalduhoma was first elected as a Member of Parliament from Mizoram in 1984. He was disqualified from Parliament when he left the Congress party, becoming the first MP to be removed under India’s anti-defection law. He was nominated as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the first time in the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections.

In 2020, he was disqualified as an assembly member under the anti-defection law, marking the first such case in Indian state assemblies. His party won decisively in the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, leading to his current role as Chief Minister.
