Lahiru Kumara to be out of action: Arnold

Mohali, March 5 : Sri Lanka pacer Lahiru Kumara, who abruptly walked off the field during his 11th over of the first innings of the first Test against India, will be out of action for at least a couple of weeks. “Lahiru Kumara, who walked off the field yesterday, has a minor hamstring tear and will be out for at least couple of weeks,” Russell Arnold said on air. Kumara was taken off the attack after he sent down his fifth ball of 61st over of the Indian innings. There were no signs of discomfort when Kumara walked briskly back to the pavillion, but the Sri Lankan dressing room confirmed that he had a niggle in his hamstring and will not be taking field for the remaining part of the day. Kumara’s injury added to the long list of unavailable Sri Lankan players. Wanindu Hasaranga is missing action in this series as he tested positive for Covid-19 during the five-match T20I series Down Under. However, Sri Lanka Cricket is yet to give an official statement on the status of Kumara. BDN
