Krunal Pandya: Playing for India is My Sole Aim, Nothing Greater

Bengaluru, April 25: All-rounder Krunal Pandya, who is currently playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2026, stated that his primary goal has always been to represent India. He expressed that there is no greater feeling than wearing the Indian team’s jersey.

After a brief yet impactful innings in the final overs of the match between RCB and GT, which helped secure a victory for his team, Krunal reiterated his commitment to returning to the national squad.

He remarked, “Nothing compares to playing in the blue jersey again. My aim has always been to play for India. However, what is within my control? I focus on consistently performing well and winning matches for my team.”

Krunal also spoke about his ability to handle pressure, saying, “I have always enjoyed high-pressure situations. I have learned a lot from my life in cricket, as you have only one mind, and you use that same mind in life and sport. Therefore, I have always focused on how I can improve as a person, which is why I can play cricket in this manner.”

Discussing his evolution as a bowler in the rapidly changing T20 environment, he noted, “Every year, batting evolves so quickly that when you stand in your position, you genuinely wonder, ‘Where will you bowl?’ because you feel that the batsman can hit you anywhere.”

He attributed his efforts to stay ahead to diversifying his bowling techniques, stating, “This innovation comes from the question, ‘How can I stay one step ahead?’ It’s not that I haven’t done this before. Why should fast bowlers have all the fun? I believe spinners should benefit from it too. Whatever is happening is good, and people are trying to copy it. So, it’s nice to set a trend.”

Krunal has been seen bowling bouncers multiple times, which is uncommon for a spinner.

He credited RCB’s spin-bowling coach Malolan Rangarajan for improving his bowling, saying, “I felt that last year was very good for me, so coming into this season, I was thinking about what I could add to my bowling. A lot of credit goes to our spin-bowling coach, Malolan, who has given me the freedom. He has supported me a lot and instilled confidence in me.”
