KL Rahul Sets Unwanted Record Against MI in IPL 2026 Match

New Delhi, April 4: In the eighth match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Delhi’s star batsman, KL Rahul, struggled to make an impact against MI.

Rahul faced three balls and scored just one run before being dismissed. The right-handed batsman has had a poor start to IPL 2026, having returned to the pavilion without scoring against the Lucknow Super Giants in his previous match. In two games, Rahul has managed only one run. Notably, this marks the first time in IPL history that Rahul has failed to reach double digits in 21 innings against the Mumbai Indians. He was caught by wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton off the bowling of Deepak Chahar, who took Rahul’s wicket for the first time in 13 innings.

Earlier, after losing the toss, the Mumbai Indians batted first, scoring 162 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a stellar innings, scoring 51 runs off 36 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Rohit Sharma contributed with 35 runs off 26 balls at a strike rate of 134 but failed to capitalize on his good start.

Naman Dheer scored 28 runs off 21 balls, while in the final overs, Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten with 18 runs off 13 balls, and Corbin Bosch added 11 runs off four balls. For the Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler, taking two wickets for 26 runs. Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, and T. Natarajan each claimed one wicket.

The Delhi Capitals did not make any changes to their playing eleven for this match. However, the Mumbai Indians made three changes, bringing in Deepak Chahar for Hardik Pandya, Corbin Bosch for Trent Boult, and Mitchell Santner for Allah Gajanfar.
