KL Rahul Makes History with Special Double Century in IPL 2026

New Delhi, May 2: KL Rahul is making waves in IPL 2026 with his exceptional batting performance. Not only is he scoring runs, but he is also hitting impressive sixes and boundaries. On Friday, he played a remarkable innings of 75 runs off just 40 balls against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, which included five sixes. This performance has etched a significant record in his name.

KL Rahul has become the first Indian opener to hit 200 sixes in the IPL. He has surpassed both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in this category, with a total of 201 sixes. In comparison, Kohli has 192 sixes, while Sharma has 148. Shikhar Dhawan follows in fourth place among Indian openers with 143 sixes.

In the overall list for most sixes by an opener in the IPL, Rahul ranks third. Chris Gayle holds the top spot with 326 sixes, followed by David Warner with 210.

So far in IPL 2026, Rahul has played nine matches and scored 433 runs, including one century and three half-centuries. His innings have featured 24 sixes and 42 fours. Notably, he scored an unbeaten 152 runs against Punjab Kings, hitting nine sixes and 16 fours off 67 balls. This score is the highest by any Indian batsman in IPL history and the third-highest individual score overall.
