
New Delhi, May 8: In the 51st match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. KL Rahul made history by becoming the first batsman to score 1,000 runs in the IPL while playing for three different franchises.
Rahul reached this remarkable milestone during his innings of 23 runs off 14 balls against KKR. Prior to this, he had scored 2,548 runs for the Punjab Kings and 1,410 runs for the Lucknow Super Giants.
Additionally, Rahul became the fastest player to reach 1,000 runs for the Delhi Capitals, achieving this feat in just 23 innings. He surpassed Rishabh Pant, who completed 1,000 runs in 35 innings for DC.
After losing the toss, Delhi Capitals batted first, with KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka providing a steady start. The duo added 49 runs for the first wicket in 30 balls. Rahul, after hitting four boundaries, was dismissed by Kartik Tyagi. Nitish Rana struggled with the bat, scoring only 8 runs.
