KKR Triumphs Over LSG in Thrilling Super Over at IPL 2026

Lucknow, April 27: In an exhilarating match of IPL 2026, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased their skills by defeating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a nail-biting Super Over. The encounter took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 26. KKR chased down the target of 2 runs set by LSG in the Super Over with a boundary from Rinku Singh on the very first ball.

KKR batted first, scoring 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. In response, LSG matched KKR’s score, also making 155 runs but losing 8 wickets, resulting in a tie. Sunil Narine was entrusted with the bowling duties for KKR in the Super Over. He struck early, clean bowling LSG’s Nicholas Pooran on the first ball. However, Kartik ended Himmat Singh’s innings, which saw him score 19 runs off 10 balls, on the third delivery. Prince Yadav took a single on the fourth ball, while the fifth ball was a dot. On the last ball, Shami hit a massive six, tying the match and sending it into the Super Over. Shami remained unbeaten with 11 runs off 6 balls. KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora each took two wickets in the bowling department.

Earlier, KKR struggled with the bat, losing captain Ajinkya Rahane for just 10 runs. Tim Seifert went out without scoring, and Ankur Raghuwanshi managed only 9 runs. Rovman Powell was dismissed for a single run by Mohsin Khan. Cameron Green scored 34 runs off 21 balls, hitting 3 sixes.

In the closing overs, Rinku Singh played a brilliant innings, scoring an unbeaten 83 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes. He partnered with Sunil Narine (4 not out) to add 62 runs for the eighth wicket in just 30 balls. Mohsin Khan was the standout bowler for LSG, claiming 5 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs, while George Linde took one wicket.
