New Delhi : After the uproar over the election of the Congress President and after much speculations about who all will run for the party president post, a new picture is emerging. Senior leader Digvijay Singh has said that he will propose Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge’s for the post. At the same time, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also expressed his intention to become a proposer for Kharge.
Digvijay Singh met Kharge on Friday. After meeting the senior leader, Singh said that he respected Kharge and would become his proposer.
Gehlot, who was present in Delhi, while talking to the media said that party’s senior leaders together have taken a decision regarding Kharge’s nomination and thus, he too would propose Kharge. He said that they are trying to strengthen Congress.
On the other hand, Shashi Tharoor, who is in the race for the post of Congress President, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by reaching Rajghat before filing nominations and on the question of Kharge filing his nomination, he said that Kharge is a senior leader of the party and he has a very good relationship with Kharge. He said that when one takes part in a race, one runs with full confidence.
