Visakhapatnam, April 8: In the second round of the 2026 Andhra Open Golf Championship, Khaleen Joshi has secured the lead with a consistent score of three-under 68, bringing his total to six-under 136. This championship, boasting a prize pool of ₹1 crore, is being held at the East Point Golf Club in Visakhapatnam.
The 33-year-old former Asian Tour winner from Bengaluru is now one shot ahead of the first-day leader, Dhruv Sheoran, who scored one-under 70, placing him in second with a total of five-under 137. Fourteen-time DP World PGTI winner Chikkarangappa S. also scored 70, landing him in third place with a total of four-under 138.
Joshi showcased impressive performance throughout the course, hitting well from tee to green despite challenging conditions. He made four birdies but recorded a bogey on the final hole.
“My day went quite well. From tee to green, I hit the ball very nicely. The wind was blowing, but overall, I am pleased with my ability to strike the ball, and I am eagerly looking forward to the weekend matches. The biggest challenge was dealing with the constant changes in wind direction. I believe I handled these conditions very well,” Joshi stated.
The par-5 seventh hole has now been converted into a 477-yard par-4 hole, reducing the overall course par score to 71.
Dhruv Sheoran began the round with an eagle and held a three-shot lead until the 12th hole, appearing set to strengthen his position. However, consecutive bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes caused him to slip to second place.
Viraj Madappa, Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja, and three players from Chandigarh—Bharat Singh, Akshay Sharma, and Manjot Singh—along with Yash Majumdar from Dubai, are tied for fourth place with a score of two-under 140. The cut was set at six-over 148, with 52 out of 130 players qualifying for the final two rounds.
