Kannur, Mar 5 : A 37-year-old CRPF jawan hailing from Kannur district, deployed in Uttar Pradesh election security duty allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle, it was reported on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Vipin Das, son of Dasan and Rugmini residing at South Bazar in Kannur. According to family sources, he committed suicide on Friday during the election duty at Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh due to mental worries as his leave application to attend the foundation stone laying of his new house was not granted. Vipin Das joined CRPF in 2005 and is survived by his wife Keerthana and one child. AK/SS ACL1823
