Hubli, April 8: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has urged the government to take the alleged Love Jihad case in Hubli seriously and conduct a thorough investigation.
On Tuesday evening, the minister visited the victim’s home in Hubli to offer condolences and assured the family of support, calling for swift justice from the government.
Expressing deep concern, Joshi stated that this alleged incident has tarnished the society. He accused the Congress-led state government of fostering such events through appeasement policies and a lenient approach.
Criticizing the government, he claimed that these incidents are a result of Congress’s appeasement politics, suggesting that antisocial elements feel no fear of the law in the state.
Joshi demanded that the state government take this matter seriously, conduct a comprehensive investigation, ensure strict punishment for the guilty, and deliver prompt justice to the victim and her family.
He also called for strict action against those who circulate the victim’s images and videos on social media. Furthermore, he stated that he has instructed police officials to take decisive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised the issue of Love Jihad during the by-election campaign last Saturday, alleging that women are living in fear under the rule of the Congress government led by Siddaramaiah.
During a meeting of the BJP’s women’s wing at the party’s district office in Bagalkot, former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai made these comments. He claimed that women are living under the shadow of the current government and called for its removal to ensure their safety.
