Bengaluru witnessed a tragic incident on Friday as CJ Roy, founder and chairman of the prominent real estate company Confident Group, allegedly took his own life by shooting himself at his office.
The incident occurred at Roy’s property on Longford Road, which falls under the Ashoknagar Police jurisdiction. The exact reasons behind the suicide remain unclear, with police currently conducting a thorough investigation.
According to police sources, income tax officials arrived at Roy’s office in two vehicles on Friday and carried out a raid. The officials reportedly questioned Roy for about an hour.
After returning to his office in the afternoon following the interrogation, Roy reportedly shot himself in the chest. The sound of the gunfire caused panic among the staff present.
Employees rushed Roy to the hospital immediately; however, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police noted that Roy’s family is involved in several businesses and that multiple cases have been registered against them. The precise cause of the suicide is still under investigation. Senior police officers visited the scene and have initiated further inquiries.
