Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Addresses LPG Cylinder Supply Concerns

Bagalkot, March 14: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized on Saturday that ensuring the smooth supply of LPG cylinders is the responsibility of the central government.

Speaking to reporters at the New Nagar helipad in Bagalkot, the Chief Minister stated that once the cylinders are received from the central government, the state will ensure their distribution. He mentioned that the state’s food minister has already held two meetings on this issue and has written to the central minister urging that there be no shortage of cylinders.

During this visit, Siddaramaiah also laid the foundation stone for a government medical college in Bagalkot. He remarked that this was a dream of the late leader H.Y. Meti, which is now coming to fruition. The Chief Minister noted that the medical college is being established in line with Meti’s efforts and vision. He also indicated that by-elections will soon take place in the Bagalkot assembly constituency.

The BJP has alleged that the foundation stone for the medical college was laid in light of the upcoming by-elections. In response, the Chief Minister questioned why the BJP did not take steps to establish the medical college during its four years in power. He confirmed that tenders for the project have already been issued and an agency has been selected, allowing construction to commence with the laying of the foundation stone.

Addressing opposition claims that no funds were allocated in the budget for the Upper Krishna project, Siddaramaiah stated that the distribution of compensation checks to affected individuals will begin on Saturday. He assured that all impacted families would receive compensation within three to four years.

Regarding concerns related to the e-Swathu system in the state, the Chief Minister promised that the issue would be resolved soon.

He mentioned that candidates for the by-elections in the Bagalkot and Davanagere South assembly constituencies will be selected by the party high command. When asked if a family member of H.Y. Meti would be given a ticket, he stated that they are among the contenders.

The Chief Minister indicated that the announcement for the by-elections could be made within a week. He said, “Anyone can claim a ticket, but if multiple members from the same family are interested, the party high command will only grant a ticket to one candidate.” He also confirmed that the party is fully prepared for the by-elections.
