Kangana Ranaut Criticizes Bollywood Over Cheap Publicity in Controversial Song Debate

Mumbai, March 18: Actress and MP Kangana Ranaut has responded to the controversy surrounding the song “Sar Ke Chunar Teri” from the film “KD: The Devil.” Speaking to the media in Parliament, she launched a scathing attack on Bollywood, claiming that the Hindi film industry has crossed all limits in pursuit of cheap publicity and attention. Despite widespread criticism of such songs across the country, she noted that the film industry shows no signs of shame.

Kangana stated, “Such songs are not new; people have been exposed to this kind of content since childhood. However, the impact is becoming increasingly evident. Some level of control over Hindi cinema is necessary. Nowadays, it is becoming difficult to watch TV or films with family due to the rising obscenity and double meanings in the content.”

She suggested that the censor board and regulations should be tightened to ensure that audiences receive clean and family-friendly content. There had been some restrictions on such content in the past, but the situation appears to be deteriorating again.

The controversy began with the release of the song “Sar Ke Chunar Teri,” featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. Upon its release, the lyrics and dance steps faced backlash on social media, with many labeling it as vulgar. Renowned singer Armaan Malik also criticized the song, calling it “a new low in songwriting.”

In response to the escalating controversy, the makers have removed the song from YouTube and decided to create a new version with altered lyrics to avoid offending anyone. However, it remains unclear when this new version will be released, though the makers are eager to present it to the audience soon.

The issue gained further traction when the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice regarding the song, expressing concern over the words used and demanding a response.
