Bhopal, May 20: In a call for justice in the case of Twisha Sharma’s death, former military personnel organized a bike rally on Wednesday. Led by retired Major General Shyam Srivastava, the veterans’ organization marched from Shaurya Smarak to the DGP office, demanding a fair investigation and a second autopsy. A significant number of veterans participated in the rally.
The veterans stated that this rally was not only a demand for justice but also a message of unity for society. They mentioned their plan to first visit the DGP office, followed by the Raj Bhavan, and then the Chief Minister’s residence.
Speaking to a news agency, retired Major General Shyam Srivastava emphasized the importance of justice for Twisha. “We are holding this bike rally to show our support. We want to inform the relevant authorities that we are here, and we seek their assistance. A court hearing is scheduled for today, and we hope for a positive outcome. Everyone has the right to justice, and a second autopsy is essential,” he stated.
During the meeting, Srivastava discussed the need for a fair investigation under the supervision of a senior officer with a representative from the DGP’s office.
He mentioned, “I met with Anil Kumar Sharma and detailed our demands. We discussed each point thoroughly. He had his views, and we had ours. He indicated that they were also considering whether a second autopsy should be conducted. We explained why we believe it is necessary. He assured us that if we proceed with the investigation here, they will ensure that our family members are involved in every step of the process and kept fully informed.”
Earlier, Twisha’s father, Nav Nidhi Sharma, expressed concerns regarding the petition filed in court. “We submitted this application to ensure that there are no doubts left regarding the true causes and circumstances of her death. After all forensic procedures are completed, we hope to conduct Twisha’s last rites peacefully and with full respect,” he said. He further noted that unnecessary delays in the process could adversely affect crucial forensic findings, potentially obstructing justice.
