Josh Inglis Joins Lucknow Super Giants Ahead of IPL 2026 Clash

New Delhi, May 2: Australian cricketer Josh Inglis has officially joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The team is set to face the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a crucial match at Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Confirming the news on social media, LSG shared a photo with the caption, “A blast from Australia.”

Since the auction, Inglis’s availability has been a topic of discussion. He has now arrived in India and started training with the team. Inglis had previously informed the franchise that he would miss part of the season due to personal reasons, having recently married in Western Australia on April 18.

Despite initial doubts, LSG acquired Inglis for ₹8.6 crore after he was released by the Punjab Kings (PBKS), where he played for a significantly lower fee. Questions arose regarding his late arrival, but his inclusion is crucial for LSG, which is struggling at the bottom of the points table with only two wins from eight matches.

Inglis’s arrival is expected to bolster the team’s batting lineup, which has shown inconsistency this season, particularly among foreign players. The contributions from key players have been limited, making the aggressive style of the Australian cricketer a vital asset for the team.

Last season, Inglis had an impressive performance, scoring 278 runs at an average of 30.88 in 11 innings. His ability to face top fast bowlers could prove essential, especially against the Mumbai bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah. Inglis has previously performed well against Bumrah, notably during a critical moment last season. With a busy schedule ahead, Lucknow is counting on Inglis to make an immediate impact and turn their season around.
