Ishan Kishan Ruled Out of Second T20 Against New Zealand Due to Injury
Ishan Kishan will miss the second T20 against New Zealand due to a thigh injury. Kumar Kushagra has been named as his replacement.

New Delhi, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday that wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will not participate in the second T20 International against New Zealand. Kishan sustained a minor injury to his right adductor muscle.
In his absence, Kumar Kushagra has been added to the squad as a replacement. BCCI Secretary Devjeet Sakia confirmed that Kushagra, currently with the India A team in Christchurch, will join the national squad for the upcoming match. The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring Kishan’s condition. He suffered the injury during the first T20 International, where India secured a commendable four-wicket victory.
The BCCI’s statement read, “Ishan Kishan is out of the second T20 International against New Zealand due to a mild injury sustained in his right adductor during the first T20 match. The medical team is keeping track of his situation.”
In the first match, Kishan batted at number five while Tilak Varma came in at number three. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak explained the decision to adjust the batting order, noting that Kishan’s injury affected his performance. With Kishan sidelined, young batsman Vaibhav Suryaanshi may get the opportunity to step into the playing eleven.
Kotak mentioned to reporters, “I have heard various speculations. The change in the batting order was made because Ishan sustained an injury to his upper thigh. If he is not fully fit, as advised by the medical team, Vaibhav (Suryaanshi) is certainly one of the strong contenders for his place.”
The Indian team for the second T20 includes: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Vaibhav Suryaanshi, Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Naman Dheer, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper).
