Ishan Kishan Praises Teams Fighting Spirit Despite Loss to Lucknow Super Giants

Hyderabad, April 6: In a thrilling IPL 2026 match, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) triumphed over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets. Despite the defeat, captain Ishan Kishan commended his bowlers for their performance. He expressed his satisfaction with how the team fought during the match.

Chasing a target of 157 runs set by SRH, LSG managed to secure victory with just one ball to spare. Reflecting on the narrow loss, Kishan praised SRH’s bowlers and fielders, who kept the match competitive until the final over. He stated, “I believe the bowlers did a great job today. They bowled in the right areas according to the plan. The fielders deserve credit as well for their efforts. However, in tournaments like this, a couple of boundaries can change the game’s momentum. Still, I am pleased with how we fought in this match.”

At one point, SRH found themselves in a precarious position, losing four wickets for just 26 runs. However, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy forged a crucial partnership, adding 116 runs for the fifth wicket, leading the team to a total of 156 runs. Klaasen scored 62 runs, while Nitish contributed 56.

Kishan acknowledged the significance of the Klaasen-Nitish partnership, noting that the early wickets had put pressure on the middle order. He remarked, “Losing the first four wickets puts pressure on the other batsmen. I must commend Klaasen and Nitish for taking the team to a respectable score. They executed their roles brilliantly, just as was needed at that moment. So yes, the credit goes to them.”

Additionally, SRH’s captain admitted that there is room for improvement in the batting order, as the team has struggled to set a substantial score in several matches. “We need to work on our batting because there have been many games where we made it easier for the chasing team,” he said.

On the other hand, after securing the win, LSG captain Rishabh Pant praised his team’s performance. Pant played a captain’s knock, scoring an unbeaten 68 runs off 50 balls. He commented, “Absolutely, this is a significant achievement. When you stay till the end and finish the match, it certainly gives us a big advantage.”

Discussing the bowlers’ performance, Pant emphasized, “I believe bowlers should often be praised, as they are the ones who set up the match for you, especially when you bowl first. I think Shami, Avesh, and Rathi all contributed significantly, especially Siddharth, who was included in the playing eleven for today’s match.”
